Yes, we accept applications all year round. Places are subject to availability.
What is the difference between Stork and a regular daycare?
Unlike a regular daycare, we have created an extension of home - a place where every member of the family feels welcome and engaged. More than just a daycare, we are a family club with a community-centered approach to early years education and parenthood. We offer flexible routines and a supportive environment that adapts to the realities of modern family life.
MEMBERSHIPS
What’s included in a Stork Membership?
Our memberships enroll your children in the playgroups and they give parents access to the workspace, priority bookings, special rates for workshops and talks, discounts in our space rentals and access to special family events. Learn more about our membership plans.
Can I cancel my membership?
Yes. Our memberships can be cancelled with two month’s notice. Just send us an email and we’ll take care of the rest.
Can I try it out before becoming a member?
The best way to get to know Stork is through our weekend events. Every Saturday and Sunday we have activities designed for families, allowing you to experience the space and our approach in a natural and relaxed way. We recommend checking our What's On page.
Do I need a membership for each parent/caregiver?
No. Our membership is designed to cover your child and both caregivers. However, you will need one membership per child.
PLAYGROUPS
What is a playgroup?
An educational playgroup is a structured learning group for young children who develop through play-based activities. These are run by our amazing team of Early Childhood expert educators.
At what age can my child join your playgroups?
Our playgroups are for children from 1 to 3 years. However, we are only accepting children who have started walking.
What is the primary language of instruction?
Our program is fully bilingual, so children are exposed to both English and Portuguese throughout the day.
Can I bring my own food?
No. We have a catering that provides us with organic fresh meals every day, adapted to each child’s dietary restrictions. If this is a problem for you, please reach out to us.
Should I bring diapers and wipes?
No need. We supply diapers and wipes that are included in our monthly fees. However, if your child has a specific sensitivity and can only use a specific brand, then you should bring your own diapers and wipes.
Why do children need to wear grip socks in our playroom?
To keep everyone safe and the space clean! Grip socks help prevent slips and protect our play areas. Each child receives a pair when they join Stork — and if you ever need an extra pair, you can easily purchase one at reception.
Where will my child sleep?
We have created a cosy corner for naptime, with comfortable mattresses and blankets.
Our current nap times don’t match with your timetable, what should I do?
On our registration form there is a section about your child's sleep habits where you can leave all the details about their nap routine. We will try our best to accommodate until your child is ready to move to the group's routine.
Do you offer playgroups at the weekend?
No, our playgroups run from Monday to Friday. However, we have programming on weekends and holidays - check our Whats On page.
While I’m in the workspace, can I see my child?
With the exception of the adaptation period, families do not observe or access the playgroup rooms during the day. This allows children to settle in, engage fully, and build trust in their educators. Whenever necessary, parents will be called upon or invited for a special moment in the classroom.
Do you accommodate children with special needs?
We welcome all children and are committed to creating an inclusive environment. If your child has specific needs, we encourage you to speak to our team so we can work together to provide the best support.
How does the adaptation process work?
The adaptation process at Stork is gradual and follows each child’s individual rhythm, with a strong focus on building trust and emotional security. It unfolds in phases, starting with the presence of parents during the first days and gradually evolving towards greater independence.
FEEDING
Can I bring my own food?
No. We work with a catering service that provides fresh, organic meals daily, tailored to each child’s dietary needs. If this is a concern for you, please feel free to get in touch with us.
Is it possible to bring breast milk or formula?
Yes, of course. If your child still consumes breast milk or formula, you are welcome to bring it to Stork. We kindly ask that it is clearly labelled and includes any necessary instructions.
What happens if my child doesn’t want to eat?
We respect each child’s rhythm and appetite. We encourage eating in a calm and positive way, but we never force feed. If a child refuses to eat, we try to understand the reason and adjust our approach whenever possible. We keep parents informed and, if needed, work together to find the best way to support the child.
NAP TIME
Where does my child sleep?
At nap time, our playroom transforms into a cosy and comfortable sleep space.
What happens if my child doesn’t want to sleep?
At Stork, we believe in the importance of “Quiet Time” — a moment for both body and mind to rest.We never force children to sleep, but we gently encourage them to relax and rest during this period.
What if your nap times don't coincide with my child's sleep times?
Children nap at Stork between 12:30 and 2:30pm. We recommend that, ahead of starting attending the playgroups, families gradually adjust nap times at home to align with this schedule.
HOURS AND SCHEDULES
What are Stork’s opening hours?
Stork is open Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM. On weekends, we host family activities, workshops, and community events, so our schedule varies accordingly. Please check our What’s On page for updated weekend programming.
Can I drop off my child later or pick them up earlier than the playgroup schedule?

During these periods, we continue to offer activities and keep the space open for families. For more details, please refer to our 2026/2027 school calendar.

Are workshops and talks open to everyone?
Yes, our talks are open to the public! While our space is reserved for members during the day, our talks and workshops are open to the wider community — just sign up in advance on our What's On page.
What if I need to cancel my scheduled workshop/talks session?
Life happens — we get it! If you need to cancel, just let us know at least 24 hours in advance so we can offer your spot to another family and we will give you credit to attend one in the future. Cancellations after that period may not be eligible for a credit.
AFTERSCHOOL CLUBS
How do the registrations for afterschool clubs work?
When you register to an afterschool club you are registering for the full trimester. However, children can attend one initial trial class to decide if they want to stay for the full trimester. If your child is enrolled in one afterschool club in one trimester, they will always have a spot guaranteed in that club for the next trimester.
Do afterschool clubs change every trimester?
Some clubs will run through the full year while others run through one trimester only.
PARTIES & EVENTS
What events can I organize at your space?
We have two spaces for rent at our Family Club: the Playroom and the Workspace. The Playroom is available for children’s birthday parties or other special celebrations. The Workspace can be rented for adult work events, workshops or meetings, or as an extension of the playroom.
Do you organize birthday parties?
We don’t organize these events ourselves, we rent you the space to host your event. However, we provide you a contact list with all our recommended event partners who can help you organize an unforgettable event.
HEALTH & SAFETY
How often is the Stork cleaned?
We employ a professional cleaning service that does a thorough cleaning of the space throughout the day. The team is diligent about sanitizing all surfaces when necessary, including after eating. All toys and materials are regularly cleaned and replaced as needed.
What are your emergency procedures?
Our staff is trained on all emergency procedures, including evacuation procedures if needed. If the emergency requires parents to pick up their children, we will contact families immediately.
What if my child gets sick or hurt?
If your child becomes unwell or gets hurt during the day, we will take care of them until a parent is available to pick them up. If the injury is serious, we will take your child to an emergency service or call an ambulance. Check our sick policy in our Club Policies document.
Can I send someone else to pick up my child?
For safety reasons, we only release children to authorized adults. If someone else is picking up your child, please let us know in advance by Growappy or in person, and make sure they bring an ID. You’ll also be asked to list approved pick-up contacts when you register.
Are you able to give my child medicine?
If your child takes regular medication, you can indicate this in the registration form. We may administer medication when given written parental authorization and clear instructions. Please speak to our team if this applies to your child.
