FAQs
OPENING & ENROLLMENT
When will the Stork open?
Our official opening date is October 6th 2025. However, we will be hosting open days and soft opening events in September — stay tuned to our Whats On page.
When can I visit the space?
We are still under construction and, unfortunately, cannot have visitors until September - we’re grateful for your patience! In the meantime, we will be hosting both online and in-person meetings for families interested in enrolling.
How do I enroll my child?
The first step is to fill out our sign-up form online. We’ll then get in touch to guide you through the next steps, which include the full registration form and payment of the enrollment fee plus one month membership, to secure your spot.
Do we accept applications all year round?
Yes, we accept applications all year round for both playgroups and afterschool clubs.
What is the difference between Stork and a regular daycare?
Unlike a regular daycare, we have created an extension of home - a place where every member of the family feels welcome and engaged. More than just a daycare, we are a family club with a community-centered approach to early years education and parenthood.
MEMBERSHIPS
What’s included in a Stork Membership?
Our memberships enroll your children in the playgroups and they give parents access to the workspace, priority bookings and special rates for workshops and talks, access to special family events and discounts in our space rentals. Learn more about our membership plans.
Can I cancel my membership?
Yes — our memberships can be cancelled with one month’s notice. Just send us an email and we’ll take care of the rest.
Can I try it out before becoming a member?
Absolutely! We’ll be hosting Open Days and events in September — a great opportunity to visit the space, meet the team, and get a feel for our approach.
Do I need a membership for each parent/caregiver?
No — our membership is designed to cover your child and both caregivers. However, you will need one membership per child.
PLAYGROUPS
What is a playgroup?
An educational playgroup is a structured learning group for young children who develop through play-based activities. These are run by our amazing team of Early Childhood expert educators.
At what age can my child join your playgroups?
Our playgroups are for children from 12 months to 3 years. However, afterschool clubs and weekend programming are open to older children.
What is the primary language of instruction?
Our program is fully bilingual, led in both English and Portuguese. Each playgroup will have one educator who only speaks English and one who only speaks Portuguese.
Can I bring my own food?
No. We have a catering that provides us with organic fresh meals every day, adapted to each child’s dietary restrictions. If this is a problem for you, please reach out to us.
Should I bring diapers and wipes?
No need! We supply diapers and wipes that are included in our monthly fees. However, if your child has a specific sensitivity and can only use a specific brand, then you should bring your own diapers and wipes.
Why do children need to wear grip socks in our playroom?
To keep everyone safe and the space clean! Grip socks help prevent slips and protect our play areas. If you need a pair, you can easily purchase one at reception.
Where will my child sleep?
We have created a cosy corner for naptime, with comfortable mattresses and blankets.
Our current nap times don’t match with your timetable, what should I do?
On our registration form there is a section about your child's sleep habits where you can leave all the details about their nap routine. We will try our best to accommodate until your child is ready to move to the group's routine.
Do you offer playgroups at the weekend?
No, our playgroups run from Monday to Friday. However, we have programming on weekends and holidays - check our Whats On page.
While I’m in the workspace, can I see my child?
To help children feel safe and confident, families do not observe or access the playgroup rooms during the day. This allows children to settle in, engage fully, and build trust in their educators. We do, however, create special moments where families are invited in, such as during morning play sessions or for storytelling, that are planned throughout the term.
Do you accommodate children with special needs?
We welcome all children and are committed to creating an inclusive environment. If your child has special needs, we encourage you to speak to our team so we can work together to provide the best support.
HOURS AND SCHEDULES
What are Stork’s opening hours?
Stork is open from Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 6:00pm. On Saturdays, we open for family activities, workshops, and community events. Please check our What’s On page for updated weekend programming.
Can I choose to bring my child in later, or collect earlier, than the scheduled Playgroup hours?
Sure! We open our doors at 8:30am and are flexible with drop-off times. If you'd like to bring your child a bit later or pick them up a bit earlier, that's no problem. We also offer extended hours until 6:00pm, available for an additional daily or monthly fee. Please check our memberships for more information.
When is Stork closed?
Stork Playgroups are closed on public holidays and during the month of August. We also have a Winter and Spring break, check our 2025/2026 Stork calendar. Stay tuned for additional programming that happens during our breaks.
PLAYGROUND
Are the playground facilities safe for children?
Absolutely. Our indoor playground was designed in partnership with Kid U Play, a leading specialist in safe and educational play environments. We conduct regular maintenance and safety checks to ensure that children can explore and play freely in a secure and stimulating environment.
Is the playground only for members?
During the week the playground is exclusive to Stork members, however, we open to the wider community on weekends and holidays. Stay tuned to our What's On Page for events and family play time, open to everyone. We also rent out our space for private events.
WORKSPACE
Do I need a membership to use the workspace?
Yes, our workspace is reserved for families who have a membership.
Can I bring my baby with me to the workspace?
We have designed a quiet space for parents to focus and work. However, when needed, you can bring in your baby with you. We ask that you respect the rules of the space and help maintain a quiet comfortable environment for other parents who are working.
WORKSHOPS & TALKS
Are workshops and talks open to everyone?
Yes, our talks are open to the public! While our space is reserved for members during the day, our talks and workshops are open to the wider community — just sign up in advance on our What's On page.
What if I need to cancel my scheduled workshop/talks session?
Life happens — we get it! If you need to cancel, just let us know at least 24 hours in advance so we can offer your spot to another family and we will give you credit to attend one in the future. Cancellations after that period may not be eligible for a credit.
AFTERSCHOOL CLUBS
How do the registrations for afterschool clubs work?
When you register to an afterschool club you are registering for the full trimester. However, children can attend one initial trial class to decide if they want to stay for the full trimester. If your child is enrolled in one afterschool club in one trimester, they will always have a spot guaranteed in that club for the next trimester.
Do afterschool clubs change every trimester?
Some clubs will run through the full year while others run through one trimester only.
PARTIES & EVENTS
What events can I organize at your space?
We have two spaces for rent at our Family Club, the Playroom and the Workspace. The Workspace can be rented for adult work events, workshops or meetings. The Playroom is available for children’s birthday parties or other special celebrations.
Do you organize birthday parties?
We don’t organize these events ourselves, we rent you the space to host your event. However, we will have a staff member on site and will connect you to our event partners who can help you organize an unforgettable event!
HEALTH & SAFETY
How often is the Stork cleaned?
We employ a professional cleaning service that does a thorough cleaning of the space throughout the day. The teachers are diligent about sanitizing all surfaces when necessary, including after mealtimes. All toys and materials are regularly cleaned and replaced as needed.
What are your emergency procedures?
Our staff is trained on all emergency procedures, including evacuation procedures if needed. If the emergency requires parents to pick up their children, we will contact families through our Whatsapp group and by phone.
What if my child gets sick or hurt?
If your child becomes unwell or gets hurt during the day, we will take care of them until a parent is available to pick them up. If the injury is serious, we will take your child to an emergency service. Check our sick policy in our Club Policies document (coming soon).
Can I send someone else to pick up my child?
For safety reasons, we only release children to authorized adults. If someone else is picking up your child, please let us know in advance by email or in person, and make sure they bring an ID. You’ll also be asked to list approved pick-up contacts when you register.
Are you able to give my child medicine?
If your child takes regular medication, you can indicate this in the registration form. We may administer medication when given written parental authorization and clear instructions. Please speak to our team if this applies to your child.
