About Us

The early years of a child’s life are vital for their growth and development, and having parents actively involved during this stage makes a big difference. But that doesn’t mean you have to choose between your family and your career.
We embrace a flexible, engaging and community-centered approach so that parents don’t miss out on the most important and precious years of their children’s lives.
Join the Club
We believe that every child deserves the freedom to explore, to express themselves, and to receive the guidance they need to reach their full potential.
Our Pedagogy
Inspired by Reggio Emilia and Montessori approaches, we promote child-led learning, autonomy, and creativity. We respect each child’s unique rhythm, interests, and developmental needs, as they make sense of the world around them.
Play-based learning
Play is how children explore, imagine, solve problems, and connect—laying the foundation for language, emotional expression, and learning.
Child centered environment
We’ve designed a nurturing space where children's interests, needs, and developmental stages guide learning, while preserving children’s natural curiosity to explore and create.
Wellbeing & Holistic development
We nurture the whole child—emotionally, socially, and physically—because well-being is the foundation for meaningful learning and healthy development.
Bilingual and Intercultural Learning
Our bilingual environment exposes children from an early age to both English and Portuguese in a natural and meaningful way, fostering communication skills and cultural openness.
Individualized & Inclusive approach
We prioritize the pace and interests of each child, adapting activities to each child’s needs and learning styles, while creating an inclusive space where every family feels seen.
Hands-on learning
Children learn best through active, sensory experiences that spark critical thinking, creativity, and autonomy.
Our Space
Our thoughtfully designed space inspires both play and connection, with something for every member of the family. With a vibrant indoor playground, a library and a quiet workspace for parents, we’ve created a place for families to come together, fostering community and shared growth.
Located next to Jardim da Estrela, we integrate outdoor learning into our daily routine, encouraging exploration and connection with nature.

Founders

Stork was born from the shared vision of two psychologists, Maria do Carmo and Alice, united by their passion for childhood and education.

Maria do Carmo, an educational psychologist with experience in schools and private practice, has supported children and families through emotional, behavioral, and learning challenges. She grew up in the countryside, where she developed a strong belief that play is the true language of childhood — a principle that continues to guide her work today.

Alice’s path led her to explore how neuroscience can inform learning, designing well-being programs based on mindfulness and social emotional development. She worked with the United Nations and, as a mother, felt the need to create the kind of space she
wished for her own children.

Together, they created a space where children grow with freedom, safety, and, above all, time to simply be children.
